DDA Flats

DDA Flats are affordable means of housing in Delhi and so these are highly in demand. The demand even continues to increase as the population grows and available land shrinks resulting into skyrocketing prices of residential properties in Delhi. DDA flats are the only hope for the members of low- and middle-income social strata to own a home here. Even the rich and affluent now look for DDA flats at locations like Vasant Kunj and Dwarka because of the high-rising values of real estate at these locations. New flats are being allotted under current housing scheme 2010, the draw results of which are published on 19 April 2011.

DDA Flats Draw 2011

Approximately 16, 000 flats are available for sale under the new housing scheme 2010. The results of the draw, which happened on 18 April 2011, have now been made available online at the website of Delhi Development Authority. One can also see the results at the notice board of DDA’s Vikas Sadan headquarters and in leading national newspapers. The total number of eligible applicants was nearly 7.5 lakh, out which only the fortunate 16,000 have got to see their names in the list of successful allottees. The rest of the applicants will soon get a refund of the registration amount through their respective banks.

DDA Flats Allotment

Soon after the publication of draw results, demand-cum-allotment letters will be issued to the successful applicants and they will be required to pay the balance amount within a period of 90 days. They will also be sent an information brochure that contains rules and regulations regarding the complete allotment process. The payment must be made within 90 days, because an interest will be levied after this period for up to 180 days. Even after 180 days from the date of the issue of the demand-cum-allotment letter, an applicant fails to make the payment, the allotment will be cancelled and the flat will be allotted to the next applicant on the waiting list.

After making payments to Delhi Development Authority, along with the submission of some prescribed documents to the DDA office, the allottee is issued a possession letter. This letter is issued only after all the necessary verifications regarding the receipt of payment and authenticity of documents submitted get completed. One should expect to receive the possession letter via speed post within a period of 60 days. After receiving the same, the next and final step will be to meet the site Engineer mentioned in the letter and take over possession of the flat allotted.

So far DDA has allotted more than 3.5 lakh flats in Delhi under 42 different housing schemes. Nearly half of these are allotted to people belonging to low- and middle-income family. DDA flats are usually categorized into Janta, LIG, MIG, HIG and EWS housing units.
