MHADA Flats |
MHADA Flats are offered for sale through a lottery system that is announced through advertisement from time to time. For the past three years, we have seen three lottery schemes every year in a row that followed the allotments of a large number of LIG, MIG and HIG flats in Mumbai. It is estimated that over 8,000 flats have been allotted through lottery results of 2009 and 2010 under various categories. This year also we will see a housing scheme sometime in the middle of 2011. Moreover, it has now become possible to apply online using the Internet facility from your home or from any cybercafé.
MHADA Flats for Sale
The new lottery scheme is announced in the month of April, 2011 for the sale of the nearly 4,000 flats located in areas like Ghatkopar, Malwani, Vikhroli, Versova, Borivali and Sion. The application forms will start selling from April 27 and one can submit the completed form till May 16, 2011. It is not Saraswat Bank this time, but the branches of Axis Bank that are located in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane that are given the responsibility to sell and receive the forms. Those wishing to apply online should fill the form on the Web and get a print out of the same. Then they should sign the completed form and submit the same to any nearby branch of Axis Bank.

MHADA Flats for Resale
The usual way to get a MHADA flat allotted in your name is to be into the system of a lottery provided you are lucky enough to find a place in the lottery draw result of the same. But occasionally, you can find an opportunity to own a MHADA flat through a resale procedure. Legally speaking, a flat of such kind can be sold after it has been allotted to a winner of the lottery and the allottee continues to live in that for at least five years. Any flat allotted by Mumbai Housing and Area Development Board is open for a resale after a period of five years.
