PUDA Mohali

PUDA Mohali refers to the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), which was constituted in 2006 under the Punjab Regional and Town Planning and Development Act of 1995. The city of Mohali falls under the district of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (SAS Nagar), which is the main jurisdiction covered by GMADA for urban planning and development. PUDA Bhawan – the official headquarters of Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority – is located in Mohali and is a well-known landmark here. The GMADA map of planning covers the entire region of SAS Nagar as well as some areas of nearby districts in Punjab.

Mohali is located adjacent to Chandigarh, a Union Territory that serves as the capital city of Punjab and Haryana both. Panchkula, a vibrant city in Haryana, is also located nearby. Indeed the three cities – Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali – form what is known as Chandigarh Capital Region. The urban planning in Mohali is modeled after the sector-wise residential settlement of Chandigarh. According to the master plan, the city will be divided into 114 sectors, which will include residential as well as commercial sectors. Mohali is well-known in India for its cricket stadium, where a number of national and international matches have been played so far.

GMADA Mohali

The chairman of GMADA is the chief minister of Punjab, who appoints a Chief Administer that serves as the executive head of the Authority. All the powers and functions of PUDA relating to the development and urban planning of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar District and adjoining areas have now been transferred to GMADA, which has a separate official website and a separate office in PUDA Bhawan. New housing schemes and schemes for the allotment of residential and commercial plots are now being launched at the behest of GMADA. To see the information regarding application process under a new scheme or to check the draw results of existing schemes you should refer to the website of Greater Mohali Area Development Authority.

A number of residential colonies have been approved in GMADA under PAPRA Act and many mega housing projects are at the various stages of construction. There is a regional master plan and six additional master plans under its review. The master plans are being executed in consultancy with a Singapore-based firm known as M/S Jurong Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. Some of the upcoming projects include Golf Course, City Center, up gradation of existing road network, provision of canal water, sewerage treatment plant, golf range, habitat centre, knowledge city and expansion of Chandigarh Airport.

GMADA Aerocity

In 2010, GMADA came up with a scheme to allot residential plots in Aerocity, Mohali. Aerocity is an upcoming township abutting road connecting Chandigarh International Airport. There are as many as 4000 residential plots on offer for sale. The application dates were from June 7 to July 6, 2010. The plot draw results are expected in 2011. The scrutiny process is over for some categories and one can check their application status at the official website of GMADA. The list of successful applicants will then be made available.
